The " Gender Discrimination and Biases in AI Image Recognition - Exploration and Challenge " workshop was successfully held on June 6, 2024 at the New Engineering Building of Tamkang University.
This workshop was led by Dr. Su-Ling Fan, the director of CLC (Tamkang University Construction Law Research and Development Centre), and co-organized by the TWiST (Taiwan Women in Science and Technology), CLC (Tamkang University Construction Law Research and Development Centre), and the Department of Civil Engineering at Tamkang University. The keynote speaker was Hsieh Chia-hsuan, Project Consultant at AIRA Corporation, who discussed the common gender and racial biases in AI image recognition technology.
Through the sharing of actual cases, the workshop analyzed the impact of these biases on gender equality in the workplace, and proposed solutions that cover the current industry situation and cultural values, to help students understand the current status and challenges faced by genders in the workplace.
The issue of gender and racial biases in AI image recognition technology is a complex and important topic. Project Consultant Hsieh Chia-hsuan, through real-world cases and in-depth analysis, revealed the impact of these biases and put forward practical and feasible solutions. In the future, promoting gender equality and racial diversity in the workplace will require the joint efforts of the entire society, from technology development to cultural values, to allow students to reflect deeply on these issues.
